We are so excited to have students back in the school building! Even though things are very different this year, we have had a great first week and are looking forward to many more. Our theme this school year is "Shooting for the Stars." We are working hard in the library to ensure students stay healthy and safe. In the pictures, you will see that tables have been spread apart, with only two chairs at each table. Students will select books from a collection at their table. Cushions, stools, Lego tables, stuffed animals, etc. have been moved for the time being. We have a shield in place at the checkout counter, and students will be required to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer upon entering the library. Books that are returned will be sanitized and "quarantined" for two days before reentering circulation. Library lessons and story time will be conducted in the classrooms, so students will only be coming into the library to select books.

Author Visit - Read Across America Week
Authors Preston Thorne and Langston Moore visited Oakland on Monday, March 2nd to kick off Read Across America Week! All students were able to listen to a presentation by the authors, and then some classrooms received special visits by the former football players. We had a great visit, and students were given the opportunity to purchase their new book. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
