Author Visit - Read Across America Week

Authors Preston Thorne and Langston Moore visited Oakland on Monday, March 2nd to kick off Read Across America Week!  All students were able to listen to a presentation by the authors, and then some classrooms received special visits by the former football players.  We had a great visit, and students were given the opportunity to purchase their new book.  Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Snowman Stretch - MakerSpace Club

For our January Club Day, MakerSpace students worked on a Snowman Stretch STEM challenge.  They had to create the tallest free-standing snowman possible, using only the materials provided.  They had to brainstorm, measure, and reflect as part of the challenge. 

MakerSpace Club - December STEAM Challenges

Students in MakerSpace Club worked on their first STEAM challenges this month.  They used task cards to create items needed for the holidays, using only limited materials.  Students had a great time and came up with some very creative responses to their tasks.

Mr. Popper's Penguins - STEM Activity

OPEN HOUSE/DISTRICT TWO BOOK REVEAL

We had a great time at our Open House last night as we visited with families and revealed our #D2reads book - Mr. Popper's Penguins.  In the library, we worked on creating a catapult to help Mr. Popper's penguins fly.
