December MakerSpace Club

Last week, students in the MakerSpace Club had to solve challenges on task cards using specific materials.  For example, students had to create an ice scraper for Santa's sleigh using cotton swabs and rubber bands.  They had to use only paper and tape to create a pouch for Santa's cookies and use pipe cleaners to create a harness for the reindeer.  Aluminum foil was used to create a Thermos for Santa's hot chocolate...  And more!  Students had to think creatively to solve these Christmas challenges.

MakerSpace - November Club Meeting

Students were able to have free exploration time during our club meeting this month.  Next month, we'll be working on holiday STEAM challenge activities!

Enchanted Forest Book Fair

Oakland Elementary Book Fair

Dear Parents,

 The Scholastic Book Fair will be held at OES Monday, October 22 through Thursday, October 25 in the Media Center.  Each classroom will be visiting the Book Fair for 25 minutes.  The schedule is listed below.  The Book Fair will also be open from 2 – 5 pm on Tuesday afternoon (Parent/Teacher Conference Day) if you would like to shop with your child.  The attached flyer shows a sample of what will be available for sale.  In addition, if you would like to help in buying books for your child’s classroom, a teacher wish list will be available at the fair.  Profits from the fair will go towards purchasing new library books. Thanks for your support!

SUMMER READING CELEBRATION

110 Students participated in the Summer Reading Celebration on Thursday afternoon.  Students made and ate S'mores and then enjoyed some extra time on the playground.  I am proud of these students for keeping up with their reading over the summer!  

Welcome Back to Camp OES!

We are looking forward an awesome school year as we read s'more books and go on a learning adventure!  We can't wait to see our happy campers on Monday!
